Hi everyone! In this newsletter we are sharing an update on our new walk-in food pantry hours, our July Food Pantry Needs and our new wish list, a few event recaps, and more!
On Saturday, July 1st, the Chester County Chapter of A.B.A.T.E. held their 34th Annual Food Run benefitting NSC. Thank you A.B.A.T.E.!
Back in May we began offering Walk-In Food Pantry hours on Monday evenings from 4:30 to 6:00 PM. We decided to make this change due to feedback we were hearing from clients regarding scheduling conflicts. Our goal is to break any barriers our clients have to accessing food, so expanding to evening hours was an easy decision to make.
Since then, we have seen many new families come to the food pantry who were not able to come during our usual hours. We are seeing individuals who can now come after their work day is over, or families who can only find transportation at night. In May we had 4 evenings of walk-ins, and we served over 40 families. In June, we only had 3 evenings of walk-ins due to the holiday, yet we served 77 families. From May to June the number of families coming to our walk-ins almost doubled, despite having one less Monday. These numbers are in addition to the hundreds of families we serve through food pantry appointments each month, and many through our direct needs, referral, and ERAP programs. As the word continues to get around that we have expanded our hours, we expect the number of families we are serving to continue to grow.
With the increase in families coming to the food pantry for food, we have an increase in need for food and financial donations. Right now, we are in need of several items for our food pantry, so we created a wish list through Walmart to make it easy for supporters like you to help.
Click the button below to view our most-needed items and see if there is something you can help with. Anything is appreciated. All purchased items can be shipped directly to us which saves you time and money! If you would prefer to drop donations off, you can do that anytime during our business hours. Thank you for supporting NSC!
This year when we were trying to decide what to plant in the flower beds in front of our building, one of our volunteers had a great idea- why not plant a vegetable garden out front? This garden helps supply our clients with even more fresh vegetables!
Can you host a food drive for the NSC food pantry? Food drives are essential to our food pantry and allow us to help even more families and individuals in our community.
Last weekend we braved the rain at our Shredding Event benefitting the Lighthouse Youth Center and Neighborhood Services Center. Thank you to Wiggins Shredding, KVIS & Coe, and ServPro of Kennett Square/Oxford for sponsoring the event, and to everyone who came out and donated!
Our 7th Annual Golf Tournament took place on June 1st at Tanglewood Manor Golf Club. Thanks to our great players and amazing sponsors, the event was a success! Click on the video above to see some clips from the event, and special thanks to Rene Harris Videography for putting together this video!
